We used the integrated SmartMotor because having separate controllers, drives and motors was limiting our capabilities. Now the connection is much simpler, and it's easier to increase or decrease the number of tolling structures for each Flexitool ordered. Integrating the SmartMotor into our machine design greatly increased the flexibility and reduced the cost. We were able to eliminate a motion controller CPU and reduce the wiring requirements onboard the machine. When I needed a solution, Animatics was a ready-to-go, plug and play servo that made a big difference. The time and hassle I saved using their SmartMotor was well worth the investment. |

The SmartMotor servo's versatility is not only in it's communication, but also in its capabilities. The Class 5 processor now has the ability to sum in Positioning, Velocity or Contouring Mode profiles on top of Electronic Gearing and Electronic Camming for applications such as winding material with a nip roller and tension arm. Relative Position Mode and Absolute Position Mode are still included, while enhanced Trap Mode and Sine Mode commutation result in a smoother, more quiet rotation with very low cogging, achieving slower commanded speeds with little speed fluctuation.
